FACULTY RESEARCH FUNDING 2009-2010

To provide financial support for individual or small groups of faculty members to engage in scholarly research on global affairs, with a particular emphasis on projects that synthesize the cultural, economic, political, technological and scientific aspects of globalization.

There will be several awards given out up to $2500 for individuals and up to $5000 for small groups. Awards may be used to cover research expenses, including travel, research assistance, or some combination of both.

Global Studies Research Funding is awarded upon recommendation of a peer review panel drawn from the Center’s network of associate faculty and/or past recipients of the funding.

Awards must be used within one year of notification.

Faculty receiving awards are expected to outline the findings of their research in a short written piece (750-1000 words) for the Global Studies Review, and may be asked to make a presentation of their research to fellow faculty and students. A faculty member who accepts Global Studies research support is expected to serve as a reviewer of future funding applications.

The deadline for receipt of applications by the Center for Global Studies is November 1, 2009 at 5:00pm. Applicants will receive notification by early December. In fairness to other potential applicants, late applications will not be considered.

The application must be submitted electronically by email as a Microsoft Word attachment to Anne O’Dell, Center for Global Studies Administrative Assistant, at aodell@gmu.edu
